MINUTES OF THE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING OF GRIMSTON, SAXELBYE AND SHOBY PARISH COUNCIL HELD ON MONDAY 13th MAY 2019 AT GRIMSTON

Election of Officers

 

The Clerk asked if the PC had a nomination for a Chairman and Vice Chairman as well as seconder for both positions. Mrs. E. Madocks Wright was elected Chairman, proposed by Mr Richard Easom (Current Chairman) and seconded by Mr. Marsh. Mr Lomas was elected Vice Chairman, proposed by Mrs. E. Madocks Wright and seconded by Mrs Read. Mr. Easom thanked the Parish Council for their help during the year as Chairman.

The new Chairman thanked Mr Easom for his work as Chairman and then thanked the rest of the PC for their confidence in her to take on the role of Chairman.

 

Mrs. E. Madocks Wright signed the Declaration of Acceptance of Office.  Mrs. E. Madocks Wright then chaired the meeting.

PCSO Tracey Biggs (Before Election of Officers)

 

PCSO. Tracey Biggs introduced herself to the PC. PCSO Biggs explained her area covered over 70 villages. The remit for PCSO was to deal with antisocial behaviour, church thefts, meet residents, share information and has limited powers of arrest.

Cllr Orson added that there has been a 12.4% increase in the Police Force locally. Retaining 120 and an increase in recruitment and training. MB continues to have a low crime rate.

  1. MATTERS ARISING – ANNUAL PARISH MEETING
  2. Grimston Church step. PC believe that a public footpath runs through the church and would like to know who it belongs to as it starts from the step. Who maintains the tarmac in churchyard? Tony Flint and Ellen Senior at MBC (Joe Orson recommendation) may be able to help.
  3. The Use of Saxelbye Phone Box. Community Heartbeat Trust own it and must maintain and clean it.
  4. Diversion signs and other roadworks equipment left behind after completion of works. Cllr Orson recommended using customerservices@melton.gov.uk
  5. Grass cutting too early. Cllr Orson said they have to start somewhere and its difficult to plan and execute.

Cllr Orson gave a brief overview of MBC and the significant changes that will occur. There will be a cabinet of 6 members for 12 months.

Mr Ronan Browne was congratulated on his election victory.

Clerk has sent a letter of appreciation to Mike Petty for his Bee Keeping presentation at the last Annual Parish Meeting on behalf of the PC.
